Baptism
Most commonly, our children are baptised as infants. It is we, as parents, who need to prepare ourselves for the Baptism celebration. Do we know why we want our children baptised? Do we know what the Words and Gestures of Baptism mean? Do we know the responsibilities we take on? Preparation for Baptism is available for those families celebrating Baptism within the community. Contact the Emmanuel Office for more information.
Since our children are so small when they are baptised, it is important for us to help them engage with their baptism as they grow. So make sure you keep their Baptism Candle, white garment or other items to remember with. And make sure you have lots of photos. Kids love to see photos of when they were baptised, and this is a great way to share with them the richness and graces of the sacrament. Write their baptism day on the calendar and have a celebration! Light their baptism candle and have a cake! Invite their godparents to make this day special instead of, or as well as, their birthday or Christmas.
